It features 7.1 surround sound for immersive audio and a 40mm magnetic neodymium driver for clear in-game sound, helping users pinpoint audio cues. The headset is designed for comfort with soft memory protein over-ear pads and an adjustable headbeam, making it suitable for long gaming sessions. Users frequently praise its durability and excellent sound clarity for its price point. While the microphone is noise-canceling, some users report issues with static or low sensitivity.
✅ Pros
- • Exceptional value for money, often praised as a great budget option.
- • Very comfortable memory foam earmuffs and adjustable headband for long sessions.
- • Wide multi-platform compatibility including PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Switch.
- • Good in-game sound clarity and positional audio for competitive play.
- • Surprisingly durable construction, holding up well to drops and wear.
❌ Cons
- • Microphone often has static/fan noise and low sensitivity according to many users.
- • Sound quality is good for the price but not considered premium by serious audiophiles.
- • Wired connection only, which limits mobility compared to wireless options.
💬 What customers are saying:
★★★★★"Sharp, Clear, Amazing Audio: The soft memory protein earmuff on the headset is comfortable while also providing a good, tight fit around your ears for improved audio quality. I also really enjoy the adjustable headband, making it very easy to adjust to my head size. I never thought the bass would be this good, but I was proven wrong, which makes it very enjoyable to use for listening to music as well, while not distorting sounds, muffling sounds, or lacking clarity for sounds when not gaming. The quality of the headset wire is very strong for the amount of time my chair has run over it. The only downside to this headset is its microphone. The microphone has a never-ending fan sound and/or static sound that is produced, making it a bit hard for others to hear what you're saying."
★★★★★"Great Headset for Kids — My Son Loves It!: My son was thrilled with how it looks — the LED lights and overall design make it feel really “cool” and high-tech. I’m impressed with the sound quality and how well the noise-canceling mic works. He uses it for both gaming and chatting with his friends, and I can actually hear a difference — less background noise, and his friends can hear him clearly without yelling. The earmuffs are super soft and comfortable, which is perfect for longer play sessions."
★★★★★"Decent Headphones: It's about what you would expect for the price. Sound quality isn't anything special, but works fine for me. The built-in microphone isn't super good, but again, it works for me. It's surprisingly durable, and the material feels a bit cheap. This doesn't bother me though, because it makes the headphones lighter. Overall, I really like these, but if you're a serious gamer, than you probably wanna find something better."
★★★★★"UPDATE AFTER REFUND: Extremely Weak Mic - Fine Otherwise: Every person I have ever spoken with using this microphone says I sound quiet, and they say I still sound quiet if they turn my volume up to 200%. A headset gives sound output and should give quality sound input - this only does half of that; hence, 2.5 stars maximum. It definitely provides sound output at good quality, with relative comfort for me, and little hassle in setup or use - deserving of an 80%+ of that 2.5 star potential. I would NOT buy it again - spend $20 more to get something decent from Best Buy."
★★★★★"5 Stars – Great Headset for My Son’s PlayStation!: The sound quality is excellent—clear audio with deep bass that really adds to the gaming experience. The microphone works well too; his friends say they can hear him perfectly during online matches. It’s also surprisingly comfortable, even during long gaming sessions. The padding is soft, and the adjustable headband fits him well. Setup was simple—just plugged it in and it worked right away. For the price, this headset feels sturdy, looks cool, and works exactly as we hoped."

Its detachable braided cable and noise-cancellation microphone offer convenience and clear communication. Compatible across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One/Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and mobile, it’s a versatile choice.

- • Higher price point compared to some entry-level gaming headsets, which might be a barrier for budget-conscious buyers.
💬 What customers are saying:
★★★★★"Reliable, durable, and an all around stellar PC headset: In the hundreds, if not thousands of hours I've used this headset for, not once has it ever consciously occurred to me that they're being worn while in use. You slap them on out of the box, adjust the earcups to your liking, and then forget they're there. These things are so damn comfortable that I regularly forget I'm wearing them. The noise cancellation is pretty good, too. My only real gripe about this product is that my microphone has never worked; even brand new out of the box. The build quality is second to none."
★★★★★"My gold standard for gaming headsets: The sound quality is amazing for headphones in any context and the earcups are very very comfy. The built-in mic sounds very good for a headset mic. The Alphas are firmer and so the seal isn't quite as tight on my head, making for less perceived bass at first. The low-end on the Alphas is much cleaner than on the Cloud I's. For a passive headset they do a fine job of noise isolation. If you want a gaming headset, or even just a headset for listening to music at your computer comfortably, this is an amazing headset."
★★★★★"HyperX Cloud Alpha: A Versatile Work-and-Music Headset: The detachable microphone is solid—my colleagues consistently tell me I sound crisp and present during meetings. The ear cushions are comfortable for several hours of continuous use, and the build feels durable without being unnecessarily bulky on my head. It handles all use cases well. For anyone looking for a reliable, dual-purpose headset that excels at both communication and casual listening, the HyperX Cloud Alpha is a great value."
★★★★★"Great headset, just wish it lasted longer: This was a great headset with some great sound quality in games, as well as other media like movies, shows, music, streams you name it. The mic quality is pretty decent and gets the job done. The trouble comes in with the actual durability of some parts of the headset itself. A big one being the speaker on the left side giving out long after buying it. Another issue being the cable quality not being the greatest and is prone to wear faster than can be expected."
★★★★★"Awesome Headphones. Dont waste $400 on expensive overpriced brands, buy these instead.: These headphones for this price point are incredibly good. The audio itself without any program to have to adjust the levels is incredible. They are super comfortable on my head. The audio is crisp and the bass is deep. High quality without all the name brand Bs, and if you know anything about HyperX, they have been known for making high quality products at a fraction of the cost."
🎯 Best for: Competitive gamers seeking clear comms and lightweight comfort

The Razer BlackShark V2 X is a lightweight gaming headset designed for competitive play. It features advanced passive noise cancellation with closed earcups and memory foam cushions, providing excellent sound isolation. Equipped with custom-tuned 50mm TriForce Titanium drivers, it delivers clear audio with distinct highs, mids, and powerful lows. The Razer HyperClear Cardioid Mic ensures improved voice pickup with less background noise, making communication crystal clear. At just 240g, its lightweight design prioritizes comfort for extended wear. It offers cross-platform compatibility via a 3.5mm audio jack for PC, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
✅ Pros
- • Excellent passive noise cancellation, effectively blocking out ambient distractions.
- • Extremely lightweight (240g) and comfortable with breathable foam ear cushions for long sessions.
- • HyperClear Cardioid Mic provides very clear and natural-sounding voice pickup with reduced background noise.
- • Good positional audio with 7.1 surround sound (on Windows PC) for immersive gaming.
- • Affordable price point for the quality and features offered, making it a great value.
❌ Cons
- • Wired connection only, limiting mobility.
- • Volume knob operates in reverse (clockwise for down) which can be counter-intuitive for some users.
- • No LED indicator for mic mute, which can lead to accidental muted calls.
- • While sound is good, some audiophiles note it might lack the 'fullness' of more premium, higher-priced models.
💬 What customers are saying:
★★★★★"A (Really) Great Entry Level Wired Headset: When you pick up the headset the first thing you notice is just how light it is. It's also extremely comfortable because of how light it is. The pads are faux leather on the interior ring and exterior ring. The part that rests against your head feels like something a little more breathable. I made some calls using the mic and, I believe this to be a great compliment to the quality of the mic, no one thought I was on a headset. The Razer wasn't a bad headphone by any means. It had a clear and present bass, without being muddy. The volume knob goes the opposite of the way my mind treats every other volume knob in my life. Clockwise turns the sound down?!"
★★★★★"Best headset for this price range.: Great headset at a good price. This headset is far better than both of those in terms of sound quality and mic sensitivity to picking up my voice when talking quietly late at night. I do dislike the inability to physically disconnect the mic piece and audio cord from the headset itself, especially the audio cord because sometimes the cord gets caught on something and I move, and instead of safely unplugging from the headset and me just being able to plug it back in I can see it potentially causing irreversible damage to the cord by yanking on the connection with the headset."
★★★★★"Amazing headsets: Really great headsets at such an affordable price. The passive noise cancelling is actually impressive, and the mic quality is also great. The earcups also feel light and comfortable on my head and it doesn't press against my glasses. Very happy with the purchase"
★★★★★"Perfect Gaming Headset for Young Gamers!: Right out of the box, the headset feels sturdy yet super lightweight. The comfort level is fantastic — he can wear it for hours without any complaints. The sound quality is outstanding with the 50mm drivers, making his games more exciting and immersive. The noise-isolating earcups really help block out distractions, and the cardioid microphone picks up his voice clearly without much background noise. He uses it across different platforms like Xbox, PC, and Switch easily with the 3.5mm jack."
★★★★★"Great headset will: Punchy bass, great sound quality best headset I’ve ever owned so far. I trust Razer besides the pleather of course. This new Razer headset is definitely an upgrade from the Kraken in all ways. There’s foam on the inside and out on the top of the headset and no pleather that goes on the ear just around the cuff of the muffs so I know it’ll last. It fit the head very well and is noise canceling however it makes the ears a little warm due to it. There’s obviously no better headset at this price or maybe even under $100 but if you’re looking for the best beats or Bose style music headphones quality from this gaming headset you won’t get it."
🎯 Best for: Audiophiles and serious competitive gamers valuing precise soundstage and detail

The beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro headphones are open-back, over-ear studio headphones, highly regarded for their transparent, spacious, and detailed sound profile, making them ideal for mixing, mastering, and competitive gaming. Users consistently praise their pinpoint accurate imaging, allowing precise localization of in-game sounds like footsteps. They offer exceptional comfort due to soft, circumaural velour ear pads, perfect for extended wear. Built with hard-wearing and robust workmanship in Germany, these headphones are designed for durability. While they deliver a strong bass and treble, some users note the 'beyer peak' in treble can be sharp for sensitive ears, and the 250-ohm version typically requires a headphone amplifier for optimal performance.
✅ Pros
- • Exceptional soundstage and pinpoint accuracy for in-game audio, crucial for competitive gaming.
- • Transparent, spacious, and highly detailed sound profile, praised by audiophiles.
- • Very comfortable velour ear pads that are soft and breathable, ideal for long listening/gaming sessions.
- • Robust, durable, and high-quality German-made construction.
- • Versatile for both professional audio mixing/mastering and immersive casual listening.
❌ Cons
- • Requires a headphone amplifier (especially the 250-ohm version) for optimal volume and sound quality.
- • Non-detachable coiled cable can be inconvenient and a potential point of failure.
- • Open-back design results in significant sound leakage, both in and out, making them unsuitable for noisy environments or shared spaces.
- • Some users with treble sensitivity find the 'beyer peak' (exaggerated treble) fatiguing over long periods.
💬 What customers are saying:
★★★★★"Pinpoint accurate headphones for gaming: Amazing pinpoint accurate gaming headphones that are also good for music and movies. Comfortable as well. Only downside is the non detachable cable. I can hear everything separately in the games I play (COD, Apex, Fortnite, and Various Single Player Games). Footsteps aren’t drowned out by other sounds, and I can very easily pinpoint where they’re coming from. You *might* need a headphone amp even with the 80 Ohm (definitely need one with the 250 Ohm). In terms of build quality (minus the non detachable cable), these things seem virtually indestructible. Overall this is an excellent headphone for gaming, movies, and music in my opinion, although some male vocals can seem a bit lacking."
★★★★★"Well beyond my expectations. I am impressed.: You'll have to try them on to really appreciate their comfort. The earpads are very soft and have a ridonkulous amount of cushion to them, they're like pillows and they engulf my ears which is nice. Bass - Not as strong as open cans, and not nearly as strong as all of the reviews claim...but still strong for open cans. The vocals of songs were stunning. I haven't heard vocals like that from anything and am very impressed. The supposed killing factor for most...I say that's pure bollocks. I am treble sensitive, I don't like piercing notes as they give me a headache. When I first put these on, I did so with an amp and that's it. I can see why people say it can be a bit much, but it's nothing to be concerned about. The soundstage is much wider than I expected, and throughly impressed me. These do leak more than you would expect, so be prepared for that."
★★★★★"Absolutely worth the buy.: These headphones offer the most details out of the 3, which I really like. I was very worried about the treble response that everyone keeps complaining about, but decided to bite the bullet, as I could easily EQ it out. I'm pleased to say that for my ears, that is not an issue. If I want to hear exactly where my opponent is coming from, or exactly how loud I should have a certain track in my mixes, or even just listening for things I haven't heard before in songs I like a lot, I find myself using these headphones. I also find these headphones to have a better bass response then the AD900x's. The DT990s have a build quality and sound quality to my ears that is hard to match."
★★★★★"Excellent product, only minor gripes.: I paired the 80-ohm version of this with an Steinberg IXO12 interface. The 80-ohm version can be powered very easily without an amp. To address the elephant in the room: Yes, these have exaggerated bass and treble compared to other studio headphones. But if you're a bass-head or simply want a bass-heavy pair of studio headphones, these are it. Clarity is great; everything sounds as it should. They are extremely comfortable, and work well with my glasses. The cups are large enough to surround my entire ears, which makes the headphones less itchy and bothersome than other pairs. I wish the the cable was slightly higher quality, but for the price, these headphones are perfect. The headphones are rigid, and feel like they will last a long time. The sound is very clear and I have enjoyed using these to listen to mostly EDM and punk rock music."

- • Microphone quality is generally good but not considered outstanding compared to dedicated standalone microphones.
- • Some users feel the overall build quality feels less premium than the price might suggest.
💬 What customers are saying:
★★★★★"Amazing Mic. 100% Recommend.: The speakers sound amazing; you can literally hear everything. Volume control is super easy and very simple. Battery length is super long. I think I have gone a whole month without charging it and using it like twice a week. The material is super sturdy and extremely comfortable. The mic will sound a little loud to people who are listening to you, so lower the mic volume a little."
★★★★★"Awesome headphones that work as advertised, will definitely buy again if needed.: Absolutely love these headphones, great sound quality, I can bring them anywhere in the house and they still work, a detachable mic isn't my first choice but this one works great anyway. I am disabled so I wear them most of the day, used for music, videos, and gaming. While gaming I love the surround sound, even with multiple audio tracks running at the same time (usually music and a game) I can very clearly tell the exact direction in the game something is, and the sound quality is great. They are comfortable all day and having the volume control on the headphones makes it easy to adjust when I'm unexpectedly needed by others in the house. Battery lasts all day and the cord is super long if I forget to charge it."
★★★★★"A little lacking in sound but otherwise great!: The battery life and wireless range is phenomenal, both are so much better than my previous Corsairs! I was charging those daily, after only about 4-5 hours I'd get low battery warnings, but I almost never have to charge these, it's insane how long they last... and the range is almost twice what I got from the Corsairs, I can roam all over and never lose sound! First thing: After scouring Reddit and some trial and error, turn off all the special sound settings (like DTS and advanced settings) and move the bass to +7 and the treble to +4. After I made this change, the quality was much much better! Incredibly lightweight and very comfortable. Sound is adequate once tweaked."
★★★★★"Solid headset: The audio quality is really good for games and music it’s perfect for casual and more experience headphone users. I can go on for hours and the straps and ear piece are really comfortable. You can also adjust everything from the software on the computer such has the LED color or patterns of the light or simply want to turn it off, so if you wanted more bass or treble you can change it. I really like how you can go a long time without recharging it and the range of the wireless headset is pretty good. My one and only complaint is the microphone quality, it is not terrible by any means but for the price I was expecting it to be better."
★★★★★"Amazing Quality, Durable, and Perfect for Home Use: These have become a staple in my daily setup, and the quality they deliver continues to impress me. The audio quality is incredible. The PRO-G drivers deliver clear, immersive sound with great depth and balance. The Blue VO!CE mic is fantastic. It captures my voice clearly without any static or distortion. The suspension headband design is a game-changer for comfort. The only downside is that these headphones do leak some sound, so people around you might hear a bit of what you’re listening to."

💬 What customers are saying:
★★★★★"Awesome headset: I’ve had them for a year now, and they work just as well as the day I bought them. I’m usually very picky about headsets and get uncomfortable quickly, but these I can wear for hours without any discomfort. They‘re so soft and they don’t make my ears sore, or sit heavy on the top of my head. They make gaming so much more enjoyable. The sound quality is great, and the mic quality seems to be fine as well. They’re affordable, easy to connect, and durable."
★★★★★"Great value. Long lasting battery, great noice canceling.: So far the battery lasts a lot! Can't believe how much I use on a single charge compared to my Beats Solo/Studio. Great noice cancelling! Sometimes I play near a loud tv and other noises and it filters the sound to just pick up my voice. I wish they were slightly less bulky but this size is standard on gaming headsets."
★★★★★"Good enough: Long battery life. Sturdy. Microphone filters out fan noise and vaping sounds. Sound quality is okay, could use a little deeper bass."
★★★★★"Great Sound and Comfort, But Could Use a Volume Boost: The sound quality is crisp and immersive—good bass, clear mids, and decent highs—which really helps get me in the zone during intense gaming sessions. The wireless connection is stable, and the dual connectivity means I can easily switch between my PC and phone without fuss. Plus, the headset is comfortable for long wear thanks to the cushioned ear cups and adjustable headband. The microphone picks up my voice clearly, which is a must for squad chat. Now, the one downside: the maximum volume could definitely be louder. Sometimes, I find myself cranking it up and still wanting just a bit more oomph—especially when ambient noise creeps in."
★★★★★"Easy to install & very durable: Very lightweight and adjusted perfectly for my son. Very easy to set up. He loved the white color. It is very easy to pair up & volume and functionality are great. Very reasonable in price. Recommend this purchase!"

- • Some users report the retractable mic mechanism can get stuck or fail over time.
- • SteelSeries' warranty process has received negative feedback for being overly complicated.
💬 What customers are saying:
★★★★★"Just... Wow. Great value headset: Audio is amazing, and it comes with an application you can download that allows you to tweak the sound depending on your use. The headset does feel a little tight on the head, but so far its not uncomfortable to use for long periods of time, as long as you put it on right. Even while using glasses, this feels ok on the head. My only complaints would be that, because its all plastic and feels a bit hard, I get worried about breaking it and try to use it as gently as I can. The 2nd complaint is the short wire length. The mic wont fully retract into the headset and would get stuck like there is something blocking it from being pushed into its slot."
★★★★★"Comfortable and Immersive Gaming Headset: The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 1 Multi-System Gaming Headset delivers on its promises of comfort and immersive audio experience. The hi-fi drivers provide clear sound quality, while the 360° spatial audio enhances the gaming experience. The lightweight and durable design ensures long-lasting comfort during extended gaming sessions. The noise-cancelling mic is a great addition for clear communication with teammates. Compatible with multiple gaming systems including PC, PS5/PS4, Switch, and Xbox, making it a versatile choice for gamers."
★★★★★"Great bang for the buck!: Great headset for the price! Mic is clear and fits comfortably. Audio is loud and on the "crisper" side of the tonal quality. What I mean is that it's not bassy or boomy, and not mid-range focus, but has an audio quality to make things sound Crisp like a treble boost. For gaming on my Switch, I like the fact I can completely tuck away the mic and then gaming on Xbox its more than enough for me especially if you turn on Windows Sonic mode for headphones. Had headphones double this price break on me in a few months so I am very happy with these."
★★★★★"Comfortable And Almost Perfect: One of the best-feeling and comfortable headphones I've worn. My only issue is that I've had plenty of times where my microphone is a bit too sensitive and is picking up sounds from the audio, and it can lead to me asking friends if any audio is leaking through to them."
★★★★★"STEEL SERIES WARRANTY PROCESS IS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL: I bought this product in June 2021 and it broke early Oct 2021, one ear of the headset and mic no longer work. I purchased an extended warranty and called to make a claim, I was told it was still covered under the manufacturer one year warranty and I would need to go thru them. Steel Series appears to make it much more challenging than would be reasonably required to make a warranty claim and they were kind enough to honor the warranty at 100%. They gave me a prepaid label to send back the headset. When I told them I had destroyed the headset at the direction of Steel Series it got a little problematic but we were able to work it out and I have since been refunded the full cost of the headset by the extended warranty provider."
